1. Start by running two classes (being 2 sessions of 3 hours) once a month eg. First & Second Monday Daytime and
Wednesday Evenign of every month, once the classes grow then schedule more classes.
2. If a class is full, then book them into the next available spot as students are always starting and finishing. A workshop avoids the
problems of a set class and you won’t have to say no to anyone or cancel a class due to not enough attending.
3. Students who are behind or have missed classes on a certified course may be integrated into the
workshops to help them catch up
2. Organise the training programs so students can easily take one, complete it and return it.
1. Print the PC Simplicity programs needed (eg. MS Word Course 1, MS Excel Course 1, MS Windows 7, etc) and print the
Student Progress Report Sheets which accommodate the programs.
2. Make 5-8 copies of each of the Self-Paced Learning Lessons and each Confidence Building Assignment
and place the copies in their own Manilla Folder. eg. 8 copies in a MS Word - Getting Started Course 1 - Lesson 1 folder.
3. Print out about 20 Student Progress Report Sheets and place them in a Manilla Folder
4. Place the Student Progress Report Sheets, Lessons and Assignments into a box or hanging divider
in a cabinet so students can easily access them and replace them after completion
Example: A student may start with the MS Word Course 1
1.
they take the Student Progress Report Sheet (SPRS) for that course
2.
they take Lesson 1 of the MS Word Getting Stared program and complete it
3. the student needs to date and signature the SPRS to record the completion of the lesson
4. the student can then return Lesson 1 back to the folder and take Lesson 2 and continue with their learning
3. Organise for a trainer to support the workshop
1. A trainer will need to monitor the progress of each student and assist where necessary. As the students will be
working on various programs at various levels it is important that the trainer is familiar with all the programs.
They can learn from the materials the students are working on.
2. Trainers should mark Assignments as they offer an evaluation of the students progress and confidence level.
3. Trainers should ensure all students save their work onto their own USB so the student has records of
their work plus it avoids housekeeping of the files on the centres computers.
4. Should a student need more time, trainers can give them lessons to take home with them to complete or permit
them to have more classes
4. Advertise the Computer Workshops
1. Via Community Brochure/Magazine + other forms of advertising eg. Newspapers, Notice Boards
2. Send emails to schools & businesses - Teachers of schools & staff of businesses can upgrade their skills
3. Let businesses know that you conduct these workshops every week throughout the year
and it only takes 2 x 3 hours to complete a program and they can train at any level they need to develop in.
4. You may offer a free course if they book in to 3 courses.
